  1. If possible, learn to swim under the supervision of a trained lifeguard. He or she has been taught to recognize signs that you need help, even if you’re underwater or unable to call out.

  25. If you are still a beginner, never try to swim in the “deep end” of a pool, unless you are with an adult that can swim at an excellent level.
